30 Years of Feminist Organising: Personal Experiences.

NOTES:

• Importance of talking from experience NOT theorising.

• Importance of international cooperation
– there is a level on which the struggles are the same = oppressed as women.

• Cannot say in mission statement that are anti-racism, anti-homophobic etc. – need to explore the issues around these first.

• Use workshops and discussions to decide who the group are and work through the theoretical issues – useful to have a closed group for this.

• Magazines and zines are popular (e.g. on experiences, theories, problems, adbusts).

• It can be a problem to keep a closed (or not) group together for a long period of time with a focus.

• Do not need to agree politically BUT need to agree what should be debated.

• Socialising and being friends helps to perpetuate collectives/organisations.
