Del 22 al 29th de Agosto: Estación de Eskí Brañillín, Pajáres
Seminario Futuros Renovables: Energías Renovables y Cambio Social

International Network For Sustainable Energy
International Network for Sustainable Energy is a network of independent non-governmental organisations active for sustainable energy. It was formed on June 4, 1992 at the Global Forum in Rio de Janeiro.
INFORSE has more than 150 members worldwide. They are supporting the common vision of a "world where energy services, necessary for a just and human centred development, are provided in a sustainable way using renewable energy" (quote from INFORSE Charter). The activities of the network aims at increases in local renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions as well as the phasing-out of nuclear and fossil energy.
The basic structure in INFORSE is comprised of 7 regions, each with one or two co-ordinators. The co-ordinators are elected by the members of their region. Largest is the European regions with more than 60 members and two coordinators (from Denmark and Slovakia).
The international INFORSE activities are guided by the co-ordinators' meetings. An international secretariat is in charge of the day-to-day international activities with guidance from the regional co-ordinators. Currently, the international secretariat is hosted by the European co-ordinator in Denmark, elected at the regional INFORSE meeting 2004 in Bonn. The European region has an "acting board" with 5 members.
Membership is open to independent, non-profit organisations supporting the INFORSE strategy. If your organisation wishes to become member, please contact the INFORSE Secretariat, or the relevant regional coordinator. Membership is due to approval by the regional coordinator.

WINDFANG e.G. is the first co-operative society in Germany running renewable energy plants exclusively owned and managed by female actors. E. G. that means registered (eingetragene) co-operative (Genossenschaft). The company was founded in 1992 by women from different occupational backgrounds. We were fascinated with the idea of producing our own electricity using wind, water and sun and thereby improving our own skills and knowledge. Since then the company is planning and managing each plant by its own (wo)manpower.
Our objectives are multisided:
- to raise the use of renewable energy in line with the rational use of energy,
- to gain knowledge about technical and ecological facts,
- to develop new ideas and solutions for the decentralized supply of energy from a female perspective,
- to be a player in the energy supply system,
- to communicate our knowledge and experience to other women circles,
- to learn new skills useful for our professional life,
- to demonstrate that women can earn money with innovative energy production plants in an ecologically and socially sound market.
A co-operative society consist of three acting groups:
- the general assembly, a meeting of all members once a year at least,
- the board, the women executive officers, we have three
- the supervisory board, which controls the work of the board and communicates between board and general assembly
With one or several, but not more than 10 investments of 1.500 € each member has the right to participate in the general assembly. The decisions are done by the motto:
one woman - one vote
no matter how big her investment is.In 1995 WINDFANG e.G. built its first wind energy turbine, an AN Bonus with a power of 450 kW. We named the plant OYA, after a Nigerian female Goddess, who takes care for storms, rivers and of course women. The wingtips are pink representing the company color and distinguishes it from other plants, which are generally white colored.
In 1997 and 1998 two plants followed, one of them is a 600 kW Vestas, the other one a 600 kW Micon. In Bonn, the former capital of Germany, the co-operative rented the roof of the Women's Museum from the municipality for the construction of a photovoltaic system with a power of 5 kWp. Since 1996 it brings together female art and female solar energy.
Our installations produce electricity of around 3.300.000kWh/year. Our members get a dividend of about 4 to 9% on their investment.
OUR VISION OF THE FUTURE
- We can imagine installing 1 or 2 new projects maybe wind power plants or may be our first hydro pp. in the next year. We have got enough money left and our members are highly motivated to give even more.
- We can imagine building new plants outside Germany
We would like to continue working together with women, maybe you have an idea.

Rising Tide is a grassroots network of independent groups and individuals committed to taking action and building a movement against climate change. We do not have a formal membership structure- anyone who supports the political statement on our website can become a part of the network. Rising Tide in the UK is part of the international Rising Tide Network.
Rising Tide is diverse A wide range of groups are already involved in our network, including student groups, direct action activists, community groups, unions, church groups and energy advice centres. We encourage an ever more vibrant and diverse movement.
Rising Tide argues that climate change is an issue of social injustice. Climate change is a direct result of the economic domination of Northern interests and transnational corporations. We call for 'climate justice' through solutions that address structural inequalities and recognise the historical responsibility of the rich nations for the problem.
Rising Tide argues that the Kyoto Protocol will fail We support international cuts in emissions through means that are applied with equality and fairness The Kyoto Protocol fails this standard- the cuts are far too low and depend on flawed market mechanisms. These will not be effective, will reinforce existing inequalities, and will reward the greatest polluters. The science is clear: to prevent further climate change rich countries need to cut emissions by up to 90%.
Rising Tide calls for a just transition to a non-carbon society We call for an immediate end to oil exploration and a dismantling of the fossil fuel economy. We call for a rapid transition which does not fall hardest on low income communities, communities of colour or low income employees of fossil fuel industries.

Can Masdeu is a squatted ex-leprosy hospital in the Sierra de Collserola in the north of Barcelona. The project started in December 2001 and managed to resist an eviction attempt in April 2002. Nevertheless the house is still under eviction treat with an upcoming court case in the next months. At the moment around 24 people inhabit the house. Our activity is directed towards social change - globally and locally.
The project includes:
- Community gardens (around 40 people from the neighbourhood grow their own food ecologically). Decisions are made in the monthly assembly and collective work organised in commissions.
- Environmental education project (day programs for school classes, youth groups, etc.)
- PIC - Interaction Point Collserola - including weekly activities (workshops, talks...), library, free shop,...
- Open collective space: the house is open for meetings and gatherings from other groups, networks, collectives.
A lot of our involvement also takes place outside the house - in anti-war protests, anti - GMO campaigns, defence of squatted places, anti-G8, work on repression, fighting speculation, defending the hills of Collserola, work within the neighbourhood...
The project is based on principles of sustainability.
We grow most of our own food, buy dry stuff from an organic cooperative, go by bike, shit in a compost toilet, shower with solar heated water, drink spring water, produce little rubbish and classify it, clean water with a grey water system... - aiming to keep out social and ecological impact as small as possible applying permaculture principles.
A fully equipped bike workshop, a clay bread oven, a clay ceramic oven, a bicycle powered sound system, as well as a parabolic solar cooker, a beer factory, a bicycle washing machine and 10 chickens form important parts of the house. We would like to intensify our work on energy issues and link to other related groups.
Our main interests are:
- Work on climate change
- Energy related education for kids
- Disconnecting Can Masdeu from the grid

-
West Wales ECO Centre was established in 1980 as the West Wales Energy Group. Its remit has always been promottion of the issues surrounding energy use and the environment. It's charitable objectives are:
- The advancement of public education in all aspects of energy conservation and energy use;
- The relief of fuel povertyy in the local population;
- The advancement of public education in matters relating to the environment, insofar as they relate to energy conservation and energy use
Primarily we seek to reduce society's impact on the environment, in particular its contribution to global warming and unnecessary climate change, throught our work,. This is noly possible by taking steps to reduce our demand on the environment, because of our energy use, and making changes to the way we live our lives so that we reduce our reliance on fossil fuel based energy.
It meets these objectives in a number of ways and by workin with a very wide cross section of society.
Energy Advice
The ECO Centre has been providing energy advice for more than twenty years. The Mid and Southh West Wales Energy Efficiency Advice Centre (EEAAC) was the first in Wales in 1993. And the ECO Centre now has responsibility for advice provision in all but the industrial south east of Wales, as it also rruns the North Wales EEAC.The EEACs proviide free and impartcial advice and guidance on domestic eenregy efficiency and renewable energy advice throughout rural Wales.
The EEACs then follow up the advice and promotion work with projects that seek to deliver real savings through both energy efficiency and renewable energy installations. That is, turn advice into action that will make a difference.
In addition to the promotion of advice and development of projects athat get householders improving their energy efficiency, the EEAC works closely with the most vulnerable groups in society to try and lift the fuel poor out of fuel poverty.
Renewable EnergyThe ECO Centre is proud to boast that it was working to promote consideration of renewable energy, and the take up of the technologies, long before the issues became mainstream. It is very heartening to know that nearly everyone is aware of the global consequencess of over reliance of fossil fuels and that renewables can provide an answer to some problems.
The project team is very active and contains a degree of expertise and experience rarely found in not-for-profit organisations sucha s the ECO Centre. The ECO Centre has one of only a very few completely self sufficient (in heat and power) exhibition units in tthe UK. THis is uses in the increasing amount of outreach work that is taking place to promote all the issues we are concerned with.
Environmental Education
There is a long tradition of educcation based activities here. The ECO Centre is currently in the middle of a large scale project that aims to suppot fully its work with schools and community groups. In the meant time it continues to play a part in the 'Sustainable Schools' scheme in Pembrokeshire.

Carbon Trade Watch was conceived at the end of 2001 and born in 2002, becoming the newest project of the Transnational Institute. With a focus on the emerging greenhouse gas markets, Carbon Trade Watch monitors the impact of pollution trading upon environmental, social and economic justice.
The inclusion of pollution trading in the Kyoto Protocol signals an historic proliferation of the free market principle into the environmental sphere. Through research and analysis, Carbon Trade Watch seeks to challenge the assumption that a liberalised marketplace is the only arena in which environmental problems can be resolved.
Carbon Trade Watch also pools the work of others and acts as a meeting point for researchers, campaigners and communities opposing the negative impacts of pollution trading. The aim is to facilitate effective opposition to environmentally and socially destructive economic policy and create space for bottom-up solutions and alternatives to emerge.
The Carbon Trade Watch group is organised non-hierarchically and is committed to challenging prejudice in all its forms. This is actively pursued in perspectives explored in the work, as well as being a constant part of the internal organisation of the project structure. The group believes that challenging domination is a vital part of the process of achieving a diverse spectrum of just and sustainable societies.
